The defending champions of the NFL is now the New York Giants, which won the 2012 Super Bowl 21-17 against the New England Patriots with Eli Manning adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP). The favourite to win, the New England Patriots, holds the record for most wins in a decade (126) and has won three Super Bowls in seven outings to the Super Bowl. However, the Giants had the edge when they last met in 2008, winning 17-14, and Eli Manning becoming the MVP. Tom Brady of the Patriots however is still one of the most successful quarterbacks of his era winning three Super Bowls and two MVPs. Despite the Giants’ win, the Patriots is still widely considered the most successful team ever, especially since they came within a minute of winning the 2012 Super Bowl. Pure statistics gives the Patriots and Tom Brady the advantage, with them holding more than half the records on NFL today.
